  1. This privacy policy applies to all information collected by us from our members, office bearers, guests to our events and guests to this website.

  2. By providing your personal data you hereby agree and consent to the handling of your personal data in the manner set our below.

  3. “Personal Data” refers to any data or information, whether true or not, about you from which you can be identified either (a) from that data; or (b) from that data and other information to which we have or are likely to have access.

  4. Depending on the nature of your interaction with ILAS, Personal Data which we may collect from you include:

    (a) Your name, phone number, email address, mailing address.

    (b) Education and employment data including place of work and specialisation. 

    (c) Information about your use of our website including cooking, IP address, ILAS and third party membership details.

    (d) Payment related information, such as bank account, pay now or credit card information.

  5. ILAS may collect personal data when you access our website or provide information in the following ways:

    (a) Submitting forms and/or applications to us.

    (b) Register for any of our events or events which we are co-hosting.

    (c) Purchase membership.

    (c) Email ILAS or ILAS committee members (past and present).

    (c) When you provide personal data to us for any other reason.

  6. ILAS collects personal data for the following reasons: For communication purposes. For general membership administration. For contract management purposes. For marketing purposes. For organising seminars, conferences and similar events

    Collection and use of personal data

  7. As a matter of principle, ILAS attempts to limit the collection of data about an individual to that individual’s business contact information. Such information is generally excluded from the data protection provisions of Singapore’s data protection laws.

  8. In the event that we collect non-business contact information, we will only do so with your consent.

  9. When we collect personal data from you for the purposes of membership, attendance at our events or through enquiries that you make to ILAS, it will be taken that you agree to the collection of your personal data. By providing your personal data to us you agree to us emailing you about ILAS related events or ILAS membership.

  10. Your personal data may be used and/or disclosed for the following purposes, which you agree to accept when you provide us with your personal data: 

    (a) To send information and invitation to you. 

    (b) To communicate and update you on information you may have interest in. 

    (c) To provide assistance and follow-up service on the information/products you have received. 

    (c) To maintain a register of our members (whether past, present or prospective). 

    (d) To administer membership applications and activities. 

    (e) To facilitate the use of our facilities and services and participation in our activities.

    (f) To publicise our events and activities.

    (f) To comply with the law, the requests of law enforcement and regulatory officials, or orders of Court. 

    (g) To share membership statistics with Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances where necessary.  

    (h) Towards any other purpose of use for which we have obtained your consent, express or implied.

    Sharing of Information

Whilst we will never sell or give away your information to third parties without your permission, we reserve our right to disclose your personal data to external vendors who assist us in security and administrative matters. When we do disclose your personal data, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the external vendors are aware of the need to safeguard your data.

  12. We will only retain Personal Data only for as long as reasonably necessary or until you request us to remove your Personal Data.

  14. You may view the personal data which we have collected of you. In order to do so you need to submit a request and pay and administrative fee of $20 to cover the cost of retrieving such information.

  15. Whilst you have the right to view your own personal data, we will not allow you to view the personal data of any other person.

    Correction Of Personal Data

  16. You should ensure that all Personal Data submitted to us is complete, accurate, true and correct.

  17. You have the right to request ILAS to correct any of your personal data we have collected and stored. This can be done by written request to correct your personal data. We will consider your request and respond to it as soon as possible.

    Changes To Our Data Protection Policy

  18. We reserve the right to change this data protection policy from time to time. Please check this website page periodically for any changes.

  19. Occasionally ILAS my provide links to third party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites operated by third parties. As such, ILAS shall not be liable for any personal data collected, retained or used by the third party websites.
