| The Pro-team Committee first embarked on drafting the Constitution which was based on the British Insurance Law Association Constitution. The application for registration was then submitted to the Registrar of Societies. The Registrar of Societies decided to consult both the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Law Society of Singapore in respect of the registration. The application process did not seem to be progressing for some time. After several reminders, the Registrar of Societies responded, seeking several amendments to draft the Constitution. These were effected and resubmitted to the Registrar of Societies and the Association was registered on 25 October 1995. Due to the efforts of some Pro-team Committee Members and the generosity of insurers and others, the Association obtained some sponsorship for start-up funds. The inagural General Meeting of the Association was held on 21 March 1996. It was very difficult for the first Committee as the initial start-up demanded a lot of effort and those on the Committee had very heavy professinal responsibilities elsewhere. Further Mr. Stanley Jeremiah, the Association's first President and a driving force behind the Association, emigrated to Canada in August 1996. Mr. Balu Rao, a lawyer, agreed to step into the vacancy and led the Association on till 2002. Mr. Stanley Jeremiah stood in as Presidency in 2003. Mr. Chan Hwee Seng, a Loss Adjuster succeeded Mr. Stanley Jeremiah as President for the next two years, 2004 and 2005. In 2006 and 2007, the President was Ms. Patricia Mack of Swiss Reinsurance Singapore. |
